X MARKS THE ART public art project launches next installment with RESYMBOL

The City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development’s Public Art San Antonio (PASA) division has launched the next installment of X MARKS THE ART with RESYMBOL. RESYMBOL is a public art project that explores the creative use and placement of artist-designed symbols within the City’s downtown environment. Featured local artists include: Ricky Armendariz, Waddy Armstrong, Elizabeth Carrington, Paula Cox, Michael Menchaca, Ethel Shipton, Robert Tatum and Louis Vega Treviño.   [Read More...]

2015 Diez y Seis de Septiembre Calendar of Events Now Available

The City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development and the City’s Diez y Seis de Septiembre Commission announce the 2015 Diez y Seis de Septiembre Events Calendar is now available at all San Antonio Public Library branch locations throughout the city. New Public Art on San Antonio's Historic Eastside

On July 29, 2015 District 2 Councilman Alan E. Warrick, II and the City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development officially unveiled a new public artwork recently installed at Pittman-Sullivan Park. The 32-foot tall original sculpture, entitled “Open Hand, Open Mind, Open Heart” consists of perforated steel and metal tubing depicting an open hand with two internal 5-foot diameter openings, and is orientated toward a view of downtown San Antonio.  [Read More...]
