Restored public artwork by local artist Chuck Ramirez is officially unveiled at San Antonio International Airport

The City of San Antonio announced the completion of the restoration and relocation of a series of photographic light box artworks by the late San Antonio artist Chuck Ramirez (1962-2010) at the San Antonio International Airport. The City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development’s Public Art San Antonio (PASA) division has launched the next installment of X MARKS THE ART with RESYMBOL. RESYMBOL is a public art project that explores the creative use and placement of artist-designed symbols within the City’s downtown environment. 2015 Diez y Seis de Septiembre Calendar of Events Now Available

New Public Art on San Antonio's Historic Eastside

On July 29, 2015 District 2 Councilman Alan E. Warrick, II and the City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development officially unveiled a new public artwork recently installed at Pittman-Sullivan Park. The 32-foot tall original sculpture, entitled “Open Hand, Open Mind, Open Heart” consists of perforated steel and metal tubing depicting an open hand with two internal 5-foot diameter openings, and is orientated toward a view of downtown San Antonio.  [Read More...]

Art-based Community Development Investment for San Antonio

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Jane Chu announced 69 Our Town awards totaling almost $5 million through the Our Town program's fifth year of funding. The City of San Antonio Department for Culture & Creative Development (DCCD) is one of those recommended organizations and will receive $100,000 for the EastPoint Promise Zone Artist Residencies Project. The NEA received 275 applications for Our Town this year and will make grants ranging from $25,000 to $200,000. [Read More...]

Tomorrow, the City of San Antonio’s Department for Culture & Creative Development will host the inaugural SA Family Pride Fair – a celebration in commemoration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning/Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month in June. The SA Family Pride Fair on Saturday, June 6, 2015 is a free, family-friendly event that will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about LGBTQ programs and resources available to the community.
